Our Cheeses All Cranborne Chase Cheeses are made with unpasteurised milk taken from a single herd of Friesian cows that graze the fine pastures where the Cranborne Chase meets the Blackmore Vale. We realized at the outset that we would have to create an attractive range of products manufactured at a consistent level of quality and reliability. Our ethos is, and has been, to maintain the quality of the cheese even at the expense of production efficiency. Consistently well made cheese will always have a market. The first cheese, which we felt met our criteria was Win Green, a soft mould ripened cheese, followed by St. Nicholas, a ripened fresh cheese and later on, Alderwood, first introduced in 2006. Alderwood is a washed rind semi-hard cheese. Our newest cheese is Eldren which is a fresh cheese introduced in May 2007. In recent years Cranborne Chase Cheese has won awards at national cheese awards events for all three cheeses and Alderwood, only six months after release, won a Bronze Award at the World Cheese Awards this year. The highlight has been this year’s British Cheese Awards when St. Nicholas was not only awarded a Gold Award but was also voted best cheese by Country Living Magazine and presented with the Cheese Lovers Trophy at the Great British Cheese Festival held in Cheltenham at the end of September. Win Green has recently been awarded a Gold Award at the Taste of the West awards 2007 and both Alderwood and Eldren have received awards in this year's British Cheese Awards - the details t be announced at the awards dinner on 29 September.
